The TPS25946xx 2.7V to 23V 5.5A electronic fuses are a highly integrated circuit protection and power management solution in a small package. These devices require few external components to provide multiple protection modes and are highly effective against overloads, short circuits, voltage surges and excessive inrush currents. With the integrated back-to-back FETs, the devices enable bi-directional current flow in the on state and can block current flow in both directions in the off state. This feature makes it ideal for use in USB OTG (On-The-Go) applications.
The output slew rate and inrush current can be adjusted using a single external capacitor. If the input exceeds the adjustable overvoltage threshold, the load is protected from input overvoltage conditions by cutting off the output. The device responds to output overloads by actively limiting the current. The output current limit threshold as well as the transient overcurrent extinction timer are user adjustable. The current limit control pin can also be used as an analog load current monitor.
The TPS25946xx is available in a 2mm x 2mm, 10-pin HotRod QFN package for improved thermal performance and reduced system footprint. The device has an operating junction temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
