SK hynix's 16Gb or 24Gb DDR5 RDIMMs increase effective bandwidth by 70% compared to DDR4, with data rates starting at 5,600 Mbps and going up to 6,400 Mbps, with the ultimate goal of more than 2x faster speeds. Such gains reduce the number of servers required for the same level of system performance and make data center operations more environmentally friendly.

With the dual-channel architecture, the DDR5 RDIMM increases the number of CA(command address) pins to 7 double data rate CA buses from the host to RCD, and 14 single data rate buses from RCD to DRAM. As a result, having two separate 40-bit channels enables twice the bandwidth and higher bus (signal) efficiency compared to single-channel DDR4 DIMMs.
