Samsung's first LPDDR5 uMCP will be mass-produced and used in mid- to high-end smartphones.

Based on Samsung's latest mobile DRAM and NAND interfaces, the Samsung uMCP delivers extremely fast speeds and large storage capacity with very low power consumption compared to the previous generation. This portfolio enables more consumers to experience a multitude of 5G applications on mid-range devices; applications that were previously only available on high-end flagship models, such as high-end photography, graphics-intensive gaming and augmented reality (AR). Compared to previous LPDDR4X-based UFS2.2 solutions, the new uMCP delivers flagship performance by increasing DRAM performance by more than 50 per cent, from 17GB/s to 25GB/s, and doubling NAND flash performance, from 1.5GB/s to 3GB/s.

By combining LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 NAND storage, Samsung uMCP achieves better performance, higher capacity and higher efficiency, allowing more smartphone users to enjoy 5G capabilities.
