The WM7220 is a low profile digital silicon microphone. It offers high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and low power consumption and is suitable for a wide variety of consumer applications.

The WM7220 integrates Wolfson's proprietary CMOS/MEMS membrane technology to provide high reliability and high performance in a small, low profile package. The WM7220 is designed to withstand the high temperatures associated with automatic reflow soldering assembly processes. (Note that regular microphones can be damaged by this method).

The WM7220 integrates a high-performance ADC that outputs a single-bit Pulse Density Modulation (PDM) audio data stream. The WM7220 supports an optional microphone interface for a dual-channel digital left/right channel assignment, enabling efficient connection of multiple microphones in a stereo/array configuration.

The WM7220E variant provides microphone sensitivity for tighter tolerances, enabling reduced differences between pieces. This eliminates calibration for in-line production part-to-part microphone variations.
