BMA456 Applying Apple AirPods Max headset headphones w/3-axis accelerometer
The BMA456 digital three-axis accelerometer is designed for sports and fitness tracking functions in wearable devices. The MEMS sensor is housed in a compact 2mm x 2mm package with a height as low as 0.65mm for easy integration. These accelerometers include a step counter optimized for wearables that are integrated directly into the sensor, eliminating the need for additional external microcontrollers. The BMA456 sensor offers 16-bit resolution with only 120 μg/√Hz of noise and only 20 mg of total offset over its lifetime. Temperature Coefficient Offset (TCO) of ±0.3mg/K ensures accurate activity tracking under all conditions.
The step counter consumes less than 30µA (typ) to maximize battery life in portable devices. The sensor can be used to put the wearable in sleep mode (even during step counting), helping to reduce overall power consumption. The BMA456 sensor can be easily integrated into space-constrained wearable applications such as fitness trackers, smartwatches and hearables.
Audible features include tap, double and triple tap for intuitive user interaction; no-motion and motion for optimized power management and activity recognition; and step counting for fitness applications. With a height of 0.65mm, the device is ideal for wearable and hearable devices.
