ASM3242 Application Apple IMac/PCIe to USB 3.2 Gen 2 Controller

The ASM3242 USB 3.2 2x2 controller incorporates a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface to ensure maximum bandwidth for external devices with a standard theoretical value of 20Gb/s. A proprietary physical layer protocol (PHY) and control logic are built in.

Compared to the old standard, USB 3.2 can achieve a maximum data throughput of 20Gbps using two High-Speed USB Type-C transmit/receive (Tx / Rx) channels.

In addition, Type-C cables support various alternative modes (Alt Modes) and are compatible with the aforementioned USB 3.1 physical layer data transfer rates and encoding technologies.
