The L6599ADTR is an enhanced version of its predecessor, the L6599, serving as a dual-ended controller specifically designed for series resonant half-bridge topologies. It provides a 50% complementary duty cycle: the high-side and low-side switches are driven to turn on/off with an 180° phase difference, whilst maintaining identical on-time durations. Output voltage regulation is achieved by adjusting the operating frequency. A fixed dead time inserted between the turn-off and turn-on of both switches ensures soft switching and enables high-frequency operation.

To drive the upper switch using a bootstrap configuration, the IC incorporates a high-voltage floating structure capable of withstanding voltages exceeding 600V. Its synchronously driven high-voltage DMOS replaces the need for an external fast-recovery bootstrap diode.

The IC supports setting the converter's operating frequency range via an external programmable oscillator.
